A quiet suburban street turned into a war zone late Wednesday night, leaving two men dead and a community shaken to its core. San Bernardino County officials have finally unspooled the grim details behind the Chino Hills kidnapping and trunk shooting that played out across local neighborhoods.
The violence began just after 10:14 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, when panicked neighbors called 911 reporting gunshots and blood-curdling screams on the 2100 block of Monteverde Drive.
How the Chino Hills Kidnapping Unfolded
Investigators quickly pieced together a chilling sequence of events. The victim, 60-year-old Chino Hills resident Shukur Aikebaer, was at home when his power mysteriously cut out. Stepping outside to inspect his electrical panel, Aikebaer walked straight into an ambush.
Two men from Irvine—later identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as 67-year-old Zhengfeng Bo and 66-year-old Jianquan Bo—were waiting. According to detectives, the suspects shot Aikebaer right at his home before shoving him into the trunk of a vehicle.
Neighbors heard the commotion and dialed emergency services immediately. That quick response time changed the trajectory of the crime.
The Pursuit and Fatal Confrontation
As deputies rushed to the neighborhood, they spotted a speeding vehicle fleeing the scene. A short high-speed pursuit ensued, terminating on the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive.
What happened next was captured in rapid succession. Deputies ordered both occupants out of the car. The passenger, Jianquan Bo, complied and officers took him into custody without incident.
The driver, Zhengfeng Bo, refused to surrender. Instead, he stepped out of the vehicle, walked directly to the open trunk, and fired his weapon inside where Aikebaer was trapped.
Deputies opened fire, striking Zhengfeng Bo. Both Aikebaer and Zhengfeng Bo were pronounced dead at the scene despite immediate lifesaving measures.
